Say Watt?!

It took us 3 weeks to come up with a name for our business.

Thousands of google searches for definitions, synonyms and even translations as we tried to find the perfect name. Hundreds of ideas were added to our brainstorming spreadsheet. Many great ideas were already taken.

And then Rob said 'Relamp'. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know what it meant but it sounded cool, so I did one more search. It means 'To replace the incandescent units of a fixture; to refit with a revolutionary new style of bulb.' And we knew that was the one.

It captured so perfectly our printed light bulb and our newfound mission to inspire the masses to finally say goodbye to inefficient incandescent light bulbs and replace it with the far superior LED technology.

It's time everyone says goodbye to their incandescent light bulbs and makes the switch to energy efficient LED technology. For our world For our electricity systems. For your budget. For your kids. You most likely already know this.

We're making it easy and fun to make the switch, not only with our printed light bulbs featuring vivid prints and LED technology, but also with our Say Watt?! info graphic to share the truly compelling reasons to relamp now.

Here are the facts we find most compelling, courtesy of The Department of Energy:

Big Picture:

“Widespread use of LED lighting has the greatest potential impact on energy savings in the US”  - US Department of Energy
LED [light-emitting diode] is a highly energy efficient technology, that is fundamentally changing the future of lighting.
Switching entirely to LED lights over the next 2 decades could:
  • Save $250 billion in energy costs
  • Reduce electricity consumption for lighting by nearly 50%
  • Avoid 1,800 million metric tons of carbon emissions
Energy Usage:
Today’s LED bulbs are 7x more energy efficient than conventional incandescent lights and slash energy usage by more than 80% (along with your electric bill)

Staying Power:
LEDs last 25x longer than traditional bulbs (LED = 25,000 hrs + versus Incandescent = 1,000 hrs). That is a life of more than 3 years if run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Heat Factor:
Incandescent bulbs release 90% of their energy as heat and reach 392-500°F* (ouch!). LEDs on the other hand, emit very little heat and are only warm to the touch.

Environmental Impact:
By 2027, we could save 348 TWh of power. That is equivalent to the annual output of 44 large electric power plants.

So, tell me:

Stay bright,
